Weeks of work along with steady progress. It is interesting as a wildlife artist how time just evaporates as I work. One of the key points that I always remind myself is to enjoy the process not just the finished artwork. This helps with the mindful approach I have to the inevitable marathon that is involved with each piece. All that detail takes time. Look closely and you will see this is the second pass with a smaller cutter slowly but surely refining the carving on this vessel. The circumference on this vessel in just over 600mm 24 inches. It was a thought that crossed my mind while working to help me understand why there is so much time involved in carving these vessels. More area to carve than you think perhaps.
