Progressing well. I always think a painting looks great when you have done the initial sketch on the canvas. The messy stage then has to happen with the colour block in. Even though this stage can look messy it still has a certain subtlety to it and is fundamental to the layers of paint later on. I hope you enjoy this progress update.
The satisfaction of getting through the colour block in. I love seeing the potential of the image starting to develop. I have sketched in the branches carefully to firm up the shapes. I need to do more sky layers to create the light in the early morning sky as it still looks quite dappled and brushy, there needs to be more subtle blending and depth to the light in the blue.
