I am pleased with the progress so far although I have much to do on this painting. Mainly still the underpainting at this stage. I have been working on the trees in the background, here starting to improve on the detail of the trees. Working with opaque highlights and transparent shadows slowly the image emerges out of the canvas panel. I love the challenge of painting as the excitement of the image builds as it evolves. I am using traditional oil painting techniques that are tried and true, no solvents and very little medium this being linseed oil or a touch of bodied linseed oil.
